Worktop templating in Cyprus
A digital template plotting the room as it really is, taken once your units are fitted, fixed and level.
Cyprus kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Developer carcasses are thin cam-lock chipboard, which is entirely adequate under laminate and wants bracing before stone. Two to three hours on site with a laser, once the units are fitted, fixed and level. The room as it is, to the millimetre.
Low-rise flats and small houses with kitchens of 2m to 2.6m along one wall, some opened into the living room with a short breakfast bar. There is a strong rental element, so specifications favour hard-wearing surfaces and simple square edges over elaborate detailing.
Quiet residential roads with off-street bays and level thresholds, plus DLR viaducts that force a few detours but no serious restriction.
Block and beam floors with blockwork walls are true enough that the scribes are light and the joins can be pulled tight. New-build rooms are genuinely square, but they are dot-and-dab plasterboard, and the taped internal angle is where it goes wrong - the board bellies at the corner and the run picks up a few millimetres over the last 300mm. Two to three hours, once the units are in.
What we are usually templating in is 1980s-90s low-rise estate, recent campus-adjacent apartment and small new-build terrace. Each of those behaves differently once the old top comes off.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered from the Essex patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

What gets asked for here
This is not the local speciality and there is no point saying otherwise: worktop replacement, worktop installation and worktop splashbacks & upstands is what the housing here actually asks for. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way regardless.

The building, and what it does to the job
Rental turnover drives the timing here, so jobs get booked around a tenancy change date and the template-to-fit gap has to be short.

Getting stone into the room
Ground and first-floor flats dominate, so most work involves a short carry and a single flight at most.

The shape of the run
Two parallel runs with a walkway between them is the most efficient shape there is on a slab, because both pieces nest as straight lengths with almost no waste. A layout templated off one wall instead of one datum will not sit right once all the pieces are down together. The drawing leaves site complete.

Questions
Worktop templating in Cyprus
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Is Cyprus on your patch?
Yes. Cyprus is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are E6. It is run from the Essex side, covering Essex & East London. A front drive is the best thing that can happen to a fitting day, because the tail lift comes down within a few metres of the door and nothing is on a clock. A templater circling for a space arrives late into a slot that was already tight, and the drawing is what suffers. The templater needs a proper stop, not a pause. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Why would worktop templating in Cyprus be any different from anywhere else?
Infill plots usually put the kitchen at the back with wide doors to a small garden, and that opening is the best route in. The room is square and the plasterboard is not, so the internal corner is recorded as it is rather than as ninety degrees. No stone is ever cut from a plan. Rental turnover drives the timing here, so jobs get booked around a tenancy change date and the template-to-fit gap has to be short.
How would you get a worktop into a property in Cyprus?
Quiet residential roads with off-street bays and level thresholds, plus DLR viaducts that force a few detours but no serious restriction. Ground and first-floor flats dominate, so most work involves a short carry and a single flight at most. Stone goes up on edge, and it is the half-landing turn rather than the flight itself that sets the maximum piece. The templater measures that route on the same visit, so the drawing leaves site already knowing the maximum piece. That is part of what the visit is for. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Is Cyprus really a worktop templating area?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop replacement, worktop installation and worktop splashbacks & upstands. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. Two to three hours on site, with the sink, tap and hob physically present. Units fitted, fixed and level first. A worktop replacement between tenancies is a single-day job by design, because the flat is not earning while it is empty. Two to three hours on site, with the sink, tap and hob physically present. Appliances on site, not on order.
What moves the number on a quote around here?
A galley puts the sink on one side and the hob on the other, which spreads the cut-outs across two pieces instead of weakening one. Join positions and vein direction are marked on the template drawing before it leaves site. Real angles, not plan angles. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What needs to be ready before you come to Cyprus?
A lightweight stud partition will not carry a breakfast bar or a peninsula end, and stone finds that out faster than laminate ever did. The laser plots it as it is, at the exact height the worktop will sit, and the drawing carries that through. Measured at worktop height, nowhere else. Boards taped or skimmed and finished, units fixed back to the wall and levelled off, and the appliances on site - the wall must be at its final thickness on template day, so no tiler or splashback fitter gets ahead of the worktop. Access in a tenanted flat depends on the tenant, so the template and fitting dates are agreed with whoever actually holds the keys. A template booked hopefully around another trade is the commonest cause of a wasted visit. Fitted, fixed and level, then we come.
