Worktop installation in Cyprus

Fitting day: protected route, back edges scribed to the real wall line, joins pulled flush, sink and hob sealed.

Cyprus kitchens

What the kitchens here are actually like

Plasterboard partitions mean light scribes and clean joins, and the fabrication effort moves to the visible faces instead. Protection down, dry-lay, scribe, then bond: the order matters more in a difficult room than an easy one. The route is walked before the first lift.

Low-rise flats and small houses with kitchens of 2m to 2.6m along one wall, some opened into the living room with a short breakfast bar. There is a strong rental element, so specifications favour hard-wearing surfaces and simple square edges over elaborate detailing.

Quiet residential roads with off-street bays and level thresholds, plus DLR viaducts that force a few detours but no serious restriction.

An infill house is built to modern standards on an old plot, so the room is square even though the site around it is not. If the diagonal is short we either split the run with a planned join or, on lower floors, carry up the stairwell, which needs the half-landing turn checking as well. The slow parts are slow for a reason.

The buildings themselves are mostly 1980s-90s low-rise estate, recent campus-adjacent apartment and small new-build terrace. A quote that ignores which one you have is guessing.

True everywhere

Worktop installation, in short

  • One visit. A straightforward run is a morning; an island and splashbacks take most of the day.
  • Every piece is carried in by hand, and stone does not bend.
  • We seat and seal the sink and hob. We do not connect water, waste, gas or electrics.
  • Floors and units are protected before anything comes through the door.

Covered from the Essex patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

Getting stone into the room

Ground and first-floor flats dominate, so most work involves a short carry and a single flight at most.

Communal stairs get boarded and the handrail padded, and we walk the route with a tape before the first piece leaves the van. The fitting day is planned backwards from that point, before anything comes off the van. That is what the morning is planned around.

The building, and what it does to the job

Rental turnover drives the timing here, so jobs get booked around a tenancy change date and the template-to-fit gap has to be short.

The service lift's internal diagonal, which is often shorter than the longest run and forces the join position before we start.

What gets asked for here

It is on the shortlist for this patch rather than at the top of it, because worktop replacement comes up more often. Nothing about the process differs between the two.

Getting stone into a Cyprus kitchen

Quiet residential roads with off-street bays and level thresholds, plus DLR viaducts that force a few detours but no serious restriction. Ground and first-floor flats dominate, so most work involves a short carry and a single flight at most.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

3–7 working days

From template to fitted, working days from template. The same on this patch as every other.

Questions

Worktop installation in Cyprus

If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.

Do you actually work in Cyprus, or just list it?

Yes. Cyprus is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are E6. It is run from the Essex side, covering Essex & East London. A drive that shelves towards the house needs the van chocked and the trolley controlled, since a loaded A-frame gathers speed quickly on a slope. We aim for the first slot of the day where parking is tight, because that is when the street is emptiest. We would rather ask than guess. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.

What is different about worktop installation in Cyprus?

Block and beam floors with blockwork walls are true enough that the scribes are light and the joins can be pulled tight. Everything comes up in the lift, so we measure the lift car's internal diagonal before the piece is loaded, because a car that takes 2.4m on the diagonal will not take a 3m worktop no matter how you stand it. The slow parts are slow for a reason. Rental turnover drives the timing here, so jobs get booked around a tenancy change date and the template-to-fit gap has to be short.

Is access a problem in Cyprus?

Quiet residential roads with off-street bays and level thresholds, plus DLR viaducts that force a few detours but no serious restriction. Ground and first-floor flats dominate, so most work involves a short carry and a single flight at most. Communal stairs get boarded and the handrail padded, and we walk the route with a tape before the first piece leaves the van. Finding it out on the morning costs the whole slot, because there is no second route to fall back on. It gets checked before the first piece is lifted. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.

Do you do much worktop installation around Cyprus?

It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop replacement. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Landlord work is scheduled around void periods, so the whole thing is a fixed window and the template date matters as much as the fitting date. The fitting day is scheduled to suit that rather than to suit the diary. Sealed before we leave. Quartz suits let property well: no sealing, no annual maintenance, and nothing an incoming tenant has to be told to look after. The fitting day is scheduled to suit that rather than to suit the diary. The prep list is not optional.

What decides the price of a worktop in Cyprus?

Two parallel runs with a walkway between them is the most efficient shape there is on a slab, because both pieces nest as straight lengths with almost no waste. Joins are pulled with suction clamps and finished flush, then colour-matched, which is the last thing done rather than the first. Dry-lay first, always. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.

What do I need to sort out first?

Where a partition has been built off the floor screed rather than off the slab, it moves, and a mitre bonded across that corner is the first thing to open. On the day it means dry-laying, marking, and cutting the scribe on site before anything is bonded. Eased in, never forced. Book the service lift and loading bay with the building manager for the whole fitting window, and have the fob or key for lift override ready. Access in a tenanted flat depends on the tenant, so the template and fitting dates are agreed with whoever actually holds the keys. Floors and units are protected before anything comes through the door, communal or otherwise. One visit, our own installers.
