Worktop templating in Goodmayes
A digital template plotting the room as it really is, taken once your units are fitted, fixed and level.
Goodmayes kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
The kitchen normally sits in the back addition or a later side return, which puts the run against the oldest and least straight wall in the building. Two to three hours on site with a laser, once the units are fitted, fixed and level. Sink, tap and hob on site, not on order.
A lot of family houses running knock-through kitchen-diners where the old scullery wall has come out and the kitchen now wraps around two or three walls with a large sink run under the rear window.
Mixed: terraces on the south side with kerbside-only unloading, and 1930s roads to the north where most houses have a crossover and a hardstanding to park on. Rear extensions usually leave a usable side alley of around a metre. Big appliances are the norm, so we see wide American fridge gaps, range cookers up to 110cm and worktops cut with generous clearance either side of the hob. Range cookers dominate here and the cut-outs sit close to end walls, so we check the actual cooker width on site instead of working off the plan measurement.
The rear wall is usually a single brick thick and has been rendered, patched and re-rendered, so it bows in and out along the length of the run. Victorian party walls and chimney-breast returns bow along their length, so the template plots the real line rather than assuming a straight one - the laser picks up points every few hundred millimetres down the back of the run and the drawing carries that curve through to the saw. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
What turns up on the job sheets is Edwardian terrace, 1930s semi and post-war infill. That mix is why two jobs on the same road can run completely differently.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered from the Essex patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

What gets asked for here
It is on the shortlist for this patch rather than at the top of it, because worktop replacement comes up more often. Nothing about the process differs between the two.

The shape of the run
Three runs means two internal corners, and each corner is a decision about mitre or butt joint before anything is nested. The template records every angle in that shape as it actually is rather than as the plan drew it. One datum for the whole room.

Getting stone into a Goodmayes kitchen

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop templating in Goodmayes
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you actually work in Goodmayes, or just list it?
Yes. Goodmayes is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are IG3. It is run from the Essex side, covering Essex & East London. Off-street parking means the van stays put all day, so tools, packers and the offcut we would rather have than not are all within reach. It is noted on the job sheet at template so the fitting crew inherit the answer rather than rediscovering it. Two hours is the realistic figure. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
What is different about worktop templating in Goodmayes?
A bay-fronted terrace has a long hall running past the stairs to the kitchen, so the hall turn caps the piece length before the run length does. Victorian party walls and chimney-breast returns bow along their length, so the template plots the real line rather than assuming a straight one - the laser picks up points every few hundred millimetres down the back of the run and the drawing carries that curve through to the saw. No stone is ever cut from a plan. Range cookers dominate here and the cut-outs sit close to end walls, so we check the actual cooker width on site instead of working off the plan measurement.
Is access a problem in Goodmayes?
Mixed: terraces on the south side with kerbside-only unloading, and 1930s roads to the north where most houses have a crossover and a hardstanding to park on. Rear extensions usually leave a usable side alley of around a metre. The side passage is the measurement that matters, because a piece has to be carried flat down it and then turned in at the back door, and the turn is always tighter than the passage. A template taken without walking the route produces a drawing that cuts beautifully and will not go in. That is part of what the visit is for. Is worktop templating common in Goodmayes?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop replacement. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. No stone is ever cut from a plan, which is inconvenient exactly when a programme is tight. The room as it is, not as it was drawn. What decides the price of a worktop in Goodmayes?
Three runs means two internal corners, and each corner is a decision about mitre or butt joint before anything is nested. A layout templated off one wall instead of one datum will not sit right once all the pieces are down together. One datum for the whole room. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What do I need to sort out first?
A low sill over the sink run is what decides between an upstand and stone dying into a window board, and there is often less clearance than an upstand is tall. The laser plots it as it is, at the exact height the worktop will sit, and the drawing carries that through. Plotted, not estimated. Units fixed and packed level over the sloping floor, walls replastered and dry at their final thickness (tiling and splashbacks go on after the worktop, never before), and the sink, tap and hob physically on site, with a Belfast sink built in and set at its finished height. The householder is normally on site at template, and that is the right time to settle sink position, tap centres and overhang rather than agree them by email. The template happens when the units are in, fixed and level, whoever is fitting them. Appliances on site, not on order.
