The addition wall is half a brick thick in places and has usually had a damp course injected and been re-plastered, which leaves it neither flat nor consistent. Every join over a gable, clear of every cut-out. Side-return extensions here are frequently a touch out of square where new brickwork meets the old flank wall, so we template the return properly rather than assuming a 90-degree corner.

Rear access usually lets us fit longer pieces whole, so the join count ends up decided by the slab rather than by the building. The stone carries the scribe because the wall cannot be persuaded, so back edges are cut oversize and eased in rather than dropped straight down. The template drawing carries the real geometry through to the saw, and the piece is machined to it rather than trimmed to it later. Radiused, polished, and clear of the joins. The sink and hob need to be on site and the run layout fixed before we start cutting, because moving a hob after the join position is set means recutting the whole piece. The same building type can arrive as a careful one-off kitchen or as a fast turnaround, and the honest answer is that they are priced differently.
