Worktop design and quotation in Primrose Hill
Priced from your plans or the kitchen as it stands, with every cut-out, edge and join on its own line.
Primrose Hill kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
The kitchen normally sits in the back addition or a later side return, which puts the run against the oldest and least straight wall in the building. Every run, cut-out, edge and join is priced on its own line, so the effect of the building is visible rather than absorbed. You can compare it against anything.
Tall narrow houses where the kitchen sits at garden level at the back of the lower ground, one room deep, so you are working to a 3-4m single run with a small return and rarely an island.
The area-stair route caps slab size long before the kitchen does, so plan joins around what will physically pass the railing gate rather than around the sink position. Everything goes down those area steps under the front bridge, through a railing gate that is frequently under a metre wide. The stucco terraces have shallow rear extensions rather than full-width returns, so the room stays long and thin no matter what the designer draws.
Georgian houses put the kitchen in a basement or a rear closet wing, and the stairs down to it are the tightest part of the whole route. The kitchen is usually a long galley in a rear extension or side return, so the run lengths are the first thing we check against slab length — anything beyond roughly three metres either needs a join or a second slab, and that decision alone moves the material figure more than a few extra square metres would. That is what the itemised lines are for.
What we are usually templating in is early Victorian stucco terrace, Regency terrace, conversion flat and mews. Each of those behaves differently once the old top comes off.
True everywhere
Worktop design and quotation, in short
- Material is £110–£550/m² supply. That is the slab only.
- Templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted as their own lines.
- No installed price per square metre is published, because it is not a real number.
- Nothing is payable until we template.
Covered from the Watford patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.
Victorian and Edwardian terraces
Getting stone into the room
Permit-only bays, waiting restrictions along most of the crescent frontages, and houses set behind railings with a bridge to the raised front door and a separate area stair down to the kitchen.
Where the frontage is a clearway the unload happens away from the door and the carry gets longer, which is a crew and time question rather than a stone one. Where a bay suspension or a permit is needed, that is a real cost and it goes on the quote instead of appearing later. Nothing here is added after the fact.

What gets asked for here
It is on the shortlist for this patch rather than at the top of it, because worktop templating comes up more often. Nothing about the process differs between the two.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop design & quotation in Primrose Hill
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Primrose Hill?
Yes. Primrose Hill is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are NW1, NW3. It is run from the Watford side, covering Hertfordshire & North London. The realistic answer on a main road is an early slot, a spotter on the van and pieces staged in one movement rather than several trips. It sits in the fitting line as time on site rather than as anything to do with the stone. It is one line among the others, and it is honest. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Primrose Hill change how worktop design & quotation works?
Listing and conservation conditions apply to a good number of these, which constrains what can be altered around the kitchen rather than what goes on top of the units. The quote separates the joins the run needs from the joins the route forces, because they are different decisions with the same price. That is what the itemised lines are for. The area-stair route caps slab size long before the kitchen does, so plan joins around what will physically pass the railing gate rather than around the sink position.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Primrose Hill?
Permit-only bays, waiting restrictions along most of the crescent frontages, and houses set behind railings with a bridge to the raised front door and a separate area stair down to the kitchen. Everything goes down those area steps under the front bridge, through a railing gate that is frequently under a metre wide. Everything comes through the front door and down the hall, so the tightest point on the route is usually the newel post at the foot of the stairs. That is why the fitting line on a quote reflects manpower and time rather than square metres. It appears as its own line rather than buried in a rate. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Is worktop design & quotation common in Primrose Hill?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop templating. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Party-wall and lease conditions in a converted building set when noisy work can happen, which shapes the fitting day more than the kitchen does. Comparing quotes only works when they itemise the same things, and this is where the differences usually hide. Itemised, so it can be compared honestly. A kitchen carved out of a larger room sits under whatever the original plan left behind, so the run frequently ends at a blocked doorway or a boxed-in service. That changes what the quote should be compared against, because the shape of the job is not the same as a single family kitchen. Material is the slab only, and it says so.
Why do two Primrose Hill kitchens the same size price differently?
Two parallel runs with a walkway between them is the most efficient shape there is on a slab, because both pieces nest as straight lengths with almost no waste. It is the shape rather than the square metreage that moves the number, which is why two kitchens the same size quote differently. The join count is stated with its reason. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
A run can measure dead right at both ends and still belly out in the middle, which only appears once the laser plots the intermediate points. This is the item most often left out of a cheaper quote, and it comes back as a variation once the templater has been. Priced as fabrication, not as area. Send us the run lengths, plus photos taken walking from the pavement through the hall to the kitchen so we can see the door widths and the stair turn. Mixed ownership means the decision-maker is not always the person who lets us in, so it is worth being clear early about who signs the quote off. The quote is written so it can be read by whoever is paying rather than only by whoever is standing in the kitchen. Written to be read by whoever is paying.
