Your slab nested, cut to the template drawing, mitred, machined and dry-assembled on the bench before anything is loaded.
Gallions Reach kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Developer carcasses are thin cam-lock chipboard, which is entirely adequate under laminate and wants bracing before stone. All of that is settled at the nesting stage, because a machined piece cannot be adjusted afterwards. The drawing decides it before the saw does.
New-build houses here have a kitchen-diner across the rear with a 3m run plus a 1.5m island, generally already square and level, which makes the templating straightforward. Apartments have small single-wall kitchens with the washing machine inside the run.
Modern square rooms make this the closest thing to a drawing-office job in the borough, though the island's overhang still needs proper brackets, not just adhesive. Wide modern roads, retail park loading and driveways on most houses mean a full-size van can park at the door with no permit issues. Newer blocks have modern lifts of a usable size, but gated parking courts need a resident to let the van in.
A gated development controls when a van gets in, where it can stand and for how long, and none of that gets decided on the morning. The lift diagonal governs the longest piece, so the join count is fixed at nesting and cannot be revisited on the day. Every join over a gable, clear of every cut-out.
What turns up on the job sheets is 2000s new-build house, recent apartment block and 1990s estate housing. Each of those behaves differently once the old top comes off.
True everywhere
Worktop fabrication, in short
- Slabs come in finite sizes, so a long run needs a join.
- Joins sit over a cabinet gable, never spanning a gap or running through a cut-out.
- A finished join is typically 2–3mm, colour-matched and sanded flush.
- Your sink and hob are dry-fitted on the bench before dispatch.
Covered from the Essex patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

What gets asked for here
Consent for the work sits with the freeholder or the managing body, and getting it in writing first avoids a crew arriving to a locked door. The workshop works from the approved drawing, so whoever signs it off is signing off the join positions too. The approved drawing is the instruction.
Honestly, this is not what we do most on this patch. Worktop installation, worktop templating and worktop design & quotation come up more often. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work, and nothing about how it is quoted, cut or fitted changes because of it.

Getting stone into a Gallions Reach kitchen
Wide modern roads, retail park loading and driveways on most houses mean a full-size van can park at the door with no permit issues. Newer blocks have modern lifts of a usable size, but gated parking courts need a resident to let the van in.
Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop fabrication in Gallions Reach
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Gallions Reach?
Yes. Gallions Reach is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are E6, E16. It is run from the Essex side, covering Essex & East London. Gravel and block paving both look like hard standing and neither takes a loaded trolley, so the run from tail lift to door gets boarded. Pieces are loaded in reverse fitting order so the first thing off the van is the first thing that goes down. The load plan follows from it. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Gallions Reach change how worktop fabrication works?
Timber-frame construction with plasterboard linings means every fixing has to find a stud, and a peninsula end needs proper support built in beforehand. Piece size is set by the lift car, not by the slab. Settled on the drawing, cut once. Modern square rooms make this the closest thing to a drawing-office job in the borough, though the island's overhang still needs proper brackets, not just adhesive.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Gallions Reach?
Wide modern roads, retail park loading and driveways on most houses mean a full-size van can park at the door with no permit issues. Newer blocks have modern lifts of a usable size, but gated parking courts need a resident to let the van in. Where the parking court sits behind the block the carry crosses open ground and gets boarded, because loaded trolleys and block paving do not agree. Getting that wrong leaves a finished, machined piece that cannot reach the room, which is a remake rather than a trim. The drawing carries that decision through to the saw. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Is Gallions Reach really a worktop fabrication area?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop installation, worktop templating and worktop design & quotation. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. Housings and integrated appliances are set out for a 38mm laminate top, so dropping to 20mm or 30mm stone changes the clearances and needs checking before anything is cut. Cutting several kitchens from different slabs and calling them matched is where firms get caught out. Same slab run, or it is not a match. Handover-spec kitchens are square, plumb and predictable, which means the join count is honest and driven by run length rather than by the building. So the nesting is planned around it rather than around a standard kitchen. Proven on the bench before dispatch.
Why do two Gallions Reach kitchens the same size price differently?
A galley puts the sink on one side and the hob on the other, which spreads the cut-outs across two pieces instead of weakening one. The nest is laid out around that, with joins placed over cabinet gables and kept clear of every cut-out. The bench proves it before the van does. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Where a partition has been built off the floor screed rather than off the slab, it moves, and a mitre bonded across that corner is the first thing to open. Cut it square where it should be radiused and the piece will fail on the lift, not in the kitchen. Machined to the real line. Sink, tap and hob need to be with us before machining, along with confirmation of whether the island is getting a breakfast overhang, since anything past roughly 300mm unsupported needs steel let into the carcasses and that has to be built in, not added later. Where a landlord or housing provider is involved there is a specification to meet and a process to follow, and both are settled before a date is offered. The workshop works from the approved drawing, so whoever signs it off is signing off the join positions too. The approved drawing is the instruction.
