Worktop templating in Farnborough
A digital template plotting the room as it really is, taken once your units are fitted, fixed and level.
Farnborough kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Wide doors, generous rooms and somewhere to park mean the joins that go in are the ones we choose, not the ones the building forces. The template records what the building actually did, not what the plan intended, and the gap between those two is what this visit is for. The room as it is, to the millimetre.
Old village properties along the high street have small, awkward kitchens with low beams and uneven floors, while the surrounding post-war detached have conventional square kitchens being opened into the dining room. Ranges and freestanding cookers are common, which means a gap in the run rather than a cut-out.
A period cottage has low ceilings, thick rubble-filled walls and a floor that has never been level, and the worktop is the thing that has to look straight. The island is templated for its overhang, its support and the position of the hob or sink within it, with sockets and any pop-up left where they will genuinely be. Two to three hours, once the units are in.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to village cottage, 1930s detached, 1960s detached and bungalow. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered from the New Malden patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

What gets asked for here
This is the job the local stock asks for first, ahead of worktop installation and worktop replacement.

The building, and what it does to the job
In the old cottages nothing is level or plumb, so we scribe against the walls and expect to take 15mm out of a template edge on site.
Where a corner is a couple of degrees off, a mitre cut to a theoretical ninety degrees opens on the wall side and there is no closing it afterwards. The laser plots it as it is, at the exact height the worktop will sit, and the drawing carries that through. Plotted, not estimated.

Getting stone into the room
The village high street is narrow with no loading room and traffic behind you, so unloading has to be quick and often at an angle; the surrounding closes are far easier with drives.

True everywhere, stated once
A template records what the building actually did, not what the plan intended. How far those two things diverge is entirely a function of when the house was built.

Worktop templating in Farnborough
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Is Farnborough on your patch?
Yes. Farnborough is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are BR6. It is run from the New Malden side, covering South West London & Surrey. A drive that shelves towards the house needs the van chocked and the trolley controlled, since a loaded A-frame gathers speed quickly on a slope. The templating visit needs somewhere to stop for two or three hours, which is a different problem from unloading for twenty minutes. It goes on the job sheet for the fitting crew. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Why would worktop templating in Farnborough be any different from anywhere else?
Doorways are low and narrow, which is a genuine constraint on piece length before anything else is considered. The island is templated for its overhang, its support and the position of the hob or sink within it, with sockets and any pop-up left where they will genuinely be. Two to three hours, once the units are in. In the old cottages nothing is level or plumb, so we scribe against the walls and expect to take 15mm out of a template edge on site.
How would you get a worktop into a property in Farnborough?
The village high street is narrow with no loading room and traffic behind you, so unloading has to be quick and often at an angle; the surrounding closes are far easier with drives. A short hard approach with no steps means a full-length piece can be walked in flat by two people rather than turned up on edge. Door widths, turn diagonals and any change of level are recorded on the drawing alongside the run dimensions. The laser records it along with everything else. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Is Farnborough mostly worktop templating work for you?
Yes. On the research for this patch it is the first of the three jobs listed, ahead of worktop installation and worktop replacement. A new extension slab is not automatically level, and that wants checking before templating rather than after the stone is cut. Two to three hours on site, with the sink, tap and hob physically present. Units fitted, fixed and level first. The junction between the original room and the extension is the point to watch, because the two floors rarely sit at the same height. The template visit is booked once the units are genuinely in, not when they are nearly in. Appliances on site, not on order.
What moves the number on a quote around here?
The catch with a galley is that both runs are seen end-on from the doorway, so any difference in overhang between the two reads immediately. Join positions and vein direction are marked on the template drawing before it leaves site. Real angles, not plan angles. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What needs to be ready before you come to Farnborough?
The stone carries the scribe because the wall cannot be persuaded, so back edges are cut oversize and eased in rather than dropped straight down. It is recorded on the drawing with the run dimensions so the workshop is not guessing. Measured at worktop height, nowhere else. All runs and the island carcass fixed down and levelled to one datum, with the sink, tap and hob on site - an island cannot be templated while it is still loose or sitting on packers. Owner-occupied kitchens are usually being done once, which is why the edge profile, the vein direction and where a join falls are worth the conversation. The templater needs the sink, tap and hob on site, and a Belfast sink installed at its final height. Fitted, fixed and level, then we come.
